Would you like to be part of this rare opportunity to be part of something special? 25 hours/week includes camping, mostly organic food, lots of fun and like minded company. Each day includes meditation, yoga, time for self introspection, hiking to the river, and time to enjoy the beautiful ridge top views. Also a chance to work off tuition at UMS.

What's wrong with "Ordinary"? By Christine Breese

The ocean, now that's special! And so the paradox is: therefore all the drops in the ocean are special. This is the funny thing about paradoxes that I was saying in my other talk, that it's all true. You're ordinary and you're special at the same time. That's the brain twister and it's so difficult with the English language, but accept the idea of being ordinary now and don't resist anymore. Don't resist; so many resist the possibility of being ordinary. Invite that now, because an idea of being special invites separation. If somebody seems special to you, that they’re amazing, maybe untouchable, they’re so talented, so beautiful, so whatever, so smart… you feel separate if you feel inferior to them. And of course that goes both ways if you feel superior to others, special… then that creates separation. Whereas, if you allow yourself to feel that you're ordinary and you're just like everyone else, this creates non-separation, inclusion of everything, it brings everyone together. ~ Christine Breese

We hired four new staff members this month and they're all ~*~fabulous~*~

When our friends and students email or call UMS, they might get a chance to meet Adrienne, Jeremy, Jessica, or Summer. Jeremy and Summer are hard at work maintaining our many web pages, and Adrienne and Jessica have a natural talent for metaphysical writing of all sorts.

We all love to stay in touch via our LJ, and also (more often) our Myspace page:

Send an email on Myspace and welcome the crew.

Hooray! Christine Breese is back in the office after participating in the Conscious Life Expo and leading various workshops and satsang gatherings in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, California.
The Conscious Life Expo was a great success and University of Metaphysical Sciences' booth was popular indeed! Christine and Kelly (hi Kelly!) enjoyed meeting so many students and friends.

We're all glad that a great time was had by all, but we missed our beloved Christine so we are very happy to see her in the office again. Hugs were shared by everybody!

Christine Breese is writing some blogs about her trip and we will post them here as soon as she shares them with us. I suspect she probably needs a bit of rest after such an exciting trip!

OH and there are videos too! Again... everything will be posted here as soon as it's ready to share.

All the best to everyone who reads this. We're in a great mood today!

This is a new Christine Breese video, about how to be the Source of Unconditional Love.

We have found that by offering unconditional love, more love is returned. There is a limitless supply of Love in the universe, all you need do is let it flow through you. This is what you are meant to be!

This video is also special because our neighborhood kitty cat makes a purring appearance. He's usually very shy so it's great to see him in a video. He's a big happy guy isn't he?

You can also visit our loving sponsor the Universal Church of Metaphysics, for written information on Unconditional Love and Heart Healing.

LJ Friends, don't forget to add University of Metaphysical Sciences on Myspace!
We have several different profiles for different purposes; add all of them or just the one you would like to hear from most.

University of Metaphysical Sciences' Official Myspace Profile - this is a band profile where we share free audio meditations and meditation videos. We also update this blog most often.

University of Metaphysical Sciences' non-band profile - this is our regular profile for friends who do not wish to have band profiles in their friend list. We post spiritual meditations once in a while and we update this blog as well, although not quite as often as our main profile.

We also have plenty of free meditations and spiritual resources on our main web page, www.umsonline.org. You can download guided meditations on topics such as angels, auras, and simple breathing and stillness techniques.

Just a head's up! We have exciting news - yes actual news - coming up soon, when Christine Breese returns from her California Tour, we will tell you all about it!

Dark Night of the Soul (video with Christine Breese)

Many people find that as the Winter season approaches, they feel sadness, emptiness or frustration... sometimes we don't know why we feel this way or how to work with these feelings we perceive as negative. This is the time to surrender and stop the search, a time when all beliefs are gone, a time of disillusionment with God, a time when all seems to be lost and there is a giving up of being able to find your way.

There is good news: When the dark night of the soul is here and the darkness of spiritual depression is in full swing, you have given up control of being able to find your way, and now you are ready to surrender to grace.

Fear not, Loved Ones.

Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat ~ We're back! It was beautiful!!

University Of Metaphysical Sciences Blog, Christine Breese D.D., Ph.D.

We have just returned home from our journey to Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat near Detroit, Oregon (about an hour and a half southeast of Portland). It was a lovely place to visit and amazing to experience, with the snow covered Mount Jefferson, a dormant volcano, towering in the distance in majesty and beauty. There is a colorful history around the center as well, and it is a rare gem nestled in the Willamette National Forest, no other private land around. It was established before the National Forests were, so it was grandfathered in.

The fall colors were everywhere; October is a wonderful time of year to be there. Every time a wind came, the yellow leaves would flutter to the ground and blanket the forest floor like the flower blossoms falling in those beautiful artistic Japanese movies. The hot springs were just gorgeous and the settings and the views were spectacular, especially the silent pool that overlooked the river and the mountains far away. It was a wonderful place for contemplation. Our staff member Margaret gets the prize for the most hot springs dips, though, and no one could keep up with her! She tried out every pool and has become the hot springs expert as to which ones are the hottest and what the aspects of each are.

The community currently has 49 permanent members, and Devon Love and I (Christine Breese) were very lucky and privileged to be invited by Quija, our main contact during our visit who made sure our retreat was all set up and ready to go, to come and see her lovely abode in the community. We got to see the schoolhouse for the kids and the entire "village" of Breitenbush on the private side of the river. We also got to learn about how Breitenbush is run almost entirely on geo-thermal energy and they don't have much of a utility bill. They heat all the cabins and the lodges with hot water in radiators from the geo-thermal sources underground, and they generate their own hydroelectric for their electrical power needs from earth sources as well! I stood in front of their engineering house for a moment contemplating how it all worked, but of course only an engineer would understand. We have much gratitude to Quija for sharing so much with us, and we learned so many things! Alternative energy is the way to go.

The retreat was so perfect the way that it flowed. It was very intimate because the group was so small, everyone got lots of personal attention and chances to share and meet each other and make friends together, and of course there was lots of laughter, even in between the serious moments of deep spiritual contemplation. It seems that some long lasting connections were made between all participants and everyone felt ever so comfortable and cozy in the group.

The meditations were very deep, since everyone was an experienced meditator, and everyone definitely gained a deeper realization of self, which was the theme of the retreat. There were three meditations per day, morning, afternoon, and evening, with an evening off in the middle to give everyone a break from the transformative work that meditation in infinite spaces can provide. Lots of free time was available so that everyone could enjoy the grounds and the hot springs, or simply sit by the river or walk the labyrinth. Devon walked the labyrinth and reported that it was an amazing experience indeed.

University Of Metaphysical Sciences hopes to have another retreat there next year! It was a wonderful place to be, and there was a magical fairyland energy to it all. Oh, and did I mention that if you go to Buddha's Playhouse there you will be in stitches laughing even after you walk out the door? There is something about that place, and everyone at Breitenbush has reported that for some reason, as soon as you walk into Buddha's playhouse, your funny bone begins to act up and it has long lasting effects even after you leave. It is impossible to be serious in that building! Hmmm…
